Shoreditch House - London Back

2007

Opened in June 2007, Shoreditch House is the latest addition to the Soho House group. Over a number of months an old tea warehouse on Bethnal Green Road, in London’s East End, has been converted into an exclusive members club whose attractions include restaurants, bars, a rooftop swimming pool, bowling alley and games room.

Interior designer Tom Dixon was tasked with creating a space that married together the key elements of Soho House with and the essence of East End of London.

George Smith produced the majority of the upholstered furniture, including the world’s longest sofa at 49 feet and a fresh take on the traditional Wing Chair designed by Tom Dixon

Interior designer Tom Dixon was tasked with creating a space that married together all of the elements of Soho House and the East End of London, “We were all terrified by this enormous space… We wanted to preserve the rawness that is intrinsic not just to the building but to the area as well.”

George Smith has produced the majority of the upholstered furniture – including the worlds longest sofa at 49ft long and a fresh take on a traditional wing chair designed by Tom Dixon. The Wingback design “was the talk of the Milan furniture fair”.

The furniture made for Shoreditch House provides another example of how George Smith can provide a truly bespoke service to all of it’s clients.
